2016 Annual Membership Banquet
Chesapeake Region held its 2016 Membership Banquet at the Friendly Farms restaurant on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Members were treated to this Fall scene as they entered the banquet room.
At the reception desk, Vicky logged in the attending members.
Elizabeth collected toys for the Hershey, PA Ronald McDonald House, a very worthwhile project in support of the children patients at the local hospital, and their siblings.
Our members assembled at the various tables prior to the announcement that the food was being served.
Jerry stops by the nearby beverage table for a cup of coffee. Other items available included hot or iced tea and various sodas.
The gorgeous Fall weather encouraged many members to drive their antique cars, and the lower, reserved parking lot was filled to capacity.
It made for an interesting antique car show of many years, makes and models.
The bright sunshine made the colors "pop."
Our largest member-attended car show of the year!
Fellow members and patrons of the restaurant alike came down to look at the grand display.
Inside, Paula welcomed everone to our annual event.
Elizabeth described her Girl Scout Bronze Award project and thanked everyone for their contributions.
With four buffet serving lines this year, our hungry group quickly received their food.
Fried chicken and shrimp were accompanied by a great variety of vegetables and salads.
For dessert, ice cream and chocolate syrup!
And, on the side table, a variety of cake. No one leaves hungry!
Nick got the awards ceremony underway and members were introduced to our special guest: AACA President Robert (Bob) Parrish and his wife Dot, who presented our 40 year and 50 year membership awards.
Larry and Susan Butcher received their 50 year membership award pin and bouquet of roses.
David Phillips also received his 50 year membership award pin. Another 50 year membership awardee was Ed Kohlerman, who was unable to attend the ceremony.
Receiving 40 year membership awards were Jerry and Helen Gordon....
... and Gary and Gina Schlee.
Members watched the award ceremony intently.
Also presented with 40 year membership awards were Chuck and Marcie Talbert...
... and Gary Wilmer. Marian Kurapka also was awarded, but was unable to attend.
Bob spoke of his history collecting antique automobiles...
... and shared some of his experiences during a very active year as AACA President.
We were honored to have Bob and Dot attend our 2016 banquet and appreciate their service to the antique car collection hobby, as 2016 AACA President and First Lady.
