2017 AACA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia
President Paula Ruby, husband Gary and several other Chesapeake Region members attended the 81st Annual Meeting of the Antique Automobile Club of America held in Philadelphia February 9-11 2017.
From the upper floors of the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel, our host for the event, one could look out over the snow-frosted City of Brotherly Love.
Prominent in the distance is the famous Philadelphia Museum of Art, a must-see if in town. Challenge yourself to a run up the "Rocky Steps" if you dare.
Adorning the upper reaches of the lobby were the traditional banners of the attending AACA regions and chapters.
At the far right, hangs the banner of our Chesapeake Region.
Friday morning the First Lady's Breakfast was held, hosted by 2016 First Lady Dot Parrish, and open for attendance by all members.
A large, diverse crowd gathered for the event, some "bearly" awake after a long winter's hibernation.
Paula and Dot Parrish make friends with one particular attendee, dressed up pretty-in-pink for the occasion.
On Friday evening, the invitational Region/Chapter President's Dinner was held, at which time President Paula took to the podium and presented to the AACA Library a check from Chesapeke Region to help finance their operations.
Saturday was a time to visit the Trade Show, attend the many informative seminars... and to take in the "City of Brotherly Love Tour" -- with one of the stops being at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
One of the most famous pieces of art stands outside: a statue of fictional Rocky Balboa of movie Rocky III fame. After the filming, star actor Sylvester Stallone graciously donated the statue to the City of Philadelphia.
At 2 pm Saturday the AACA General Membership Meeting began. As usual, the room was packed with attendees.
Our newsletter editor Bill, proudly wearing his name tag adorned with a "National Award Winner" ribbon, was all smiles for the camera.
Chesapeake Region members Franklin and Phil patiently await the start of the meeting.
The new 2017 AACA National Directors and Board were introduced to the members.

Chesapeake Region President Paula Ruby gathers with the invited Technology College students -- representing the future of AACA. Paula initiated a well-appreciated collection among the General Membership Meeting attendees to help fund their expenses to join us at the Annual Meeting.
As the National Awards Banquet came to a close, Paula joined our award-winning newsletter editor, Bill, for a photo with his Master Editor Award and Certificate.
