2021 Anniversary Riverboat Cruise - 09/18/21
On September 18th, 2021 our Chesapeake Region members boarded two chartered buses and travelled to Hurlock, Maryland for our Chesapeake Region's long-planned but pandemic-postponed Anniversary Crab Feast and Riverboat Tour.
Upon arrival, many of our members were gathered hastily for a group photograph.
President Paula welcomed everyone and explained the agenda for the day.
We all assembled on the dock waiting to board the Dorothy Megan, our paddle-wheel riverboat for the day.
After awhile on board, and underway on the river, the friendly staff began to serve us food - such as this delicious fried chicken.
Next came a big dish of scallops.
Cole slaw and a variety of sauces and seasonings kept the meal going.
And then came delivery of the main attraction: the steamed crabs - Maryland style... coated in Old Bay seasoning.
The folks at our table quickly dug in, and the long-awaited feast began!
Phil takes on his first.
Shelly contemplates another one.
Before long the big table was filling up with crab shells.
When the feast was ending, Phil travelled the upper and lower decks of the boat to take photographs...
...and our members had a chance to walk around the decks to socialize with fellow travellers.
Once back at the dock, we boarded our awaiting charter buses for the trip back home - thankful for such a delightful and tasty excursion.
