Registration of a Collector Vehicle
A vehicle qualifies as "historic" if it is 20 or more years old and has not been substantially altered, remodeled or remanufactured from its original construction.
An historic vehicle, 60 years or older may obtain a one-time permanent, non-transferable registration. This vehicle registration does not qualify for special registration plates.
By classifying a vehicle as historic you certify the vehicle will be maintained for participation in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and other similar uses, and will not be used for general daily transportation.
An Application for Historic or Street Rod Registration (form #VR-096) must be completed.
A Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate is not required to register an historic vehicle.
